Decorating a table is always a creative process, one that is demanding and challenging. And sometimes even the most unusual of items is simply not unusual enough. A bespoke table arrangement is the solution for realising your own personal dreams and producing a tailor-made result that fulfils all your requirements. Anything is possible, be it special details unseen elsewhere, or your own choice of shapes, colours, glazes, patterns, ceramics or porcelain.
The charger plates for the Waldhotel Sonnora in the spring of 2021:
Clemens Rambichler asked me to design some bespoke charger plates for the new set up of his restaurant. The desired shape was found at KPM, the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin. The idea, the motifs and the drawings were all my doing.
The Waldhotel Sonnora, which has had three Michelin stars for more than twenty years, works exclusively with top-quality products. The extensive menu is full of exquisite delicacies. That’s why I suggested not creating just one motif, but four – to match some of the classic dishes on the menu: lobster, venison, fennel and turbot. After all, dining at the Waldhotel Sonnora is not just a one-off event. You can’t help returning time and again. And with a bit of luck, you’ll get a different charger plate every time. A one-of-a-kind, just like the Waldhotel Sonnora itself.
